The Dancing Piano is the home of bespoke training for ballet pianists- both novices and more experienced practitioners - who wish to learn, hone and extend their skills. On the Summer Course pianists will learn all about playing for a professional ballet class: improvisation, repertoire, musicianship, advanced techniques, ballet vocabulary and all the associated skills required to be a successful ballet pianist.

The ethos of The Dancing Piano is empirical practice: learning through experience. We endeavour to give everyone practical experience of the ideas and teaching on offer. With the benefit of fantastic studios, staff and resources The Dancing Piano offers an unparalleled opportunity for musicians to truly develop their skills and bring new life to the dance studio.

Founded and directed by Nicki Williamson (The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Rambert) The Dancing Piano is a unique organisation which aims to bring new ideas allied with an understanding of tradition to the ballet studio. In a wide ranging career that includes 30 years as a musician for dance Nicki has the experience and knowledge to inspire new artists in the dance studio and motivate and guide more experienced practitioners through fresh ideas and techniques.
